XP Guest Blog: Training Staff To Use Churchteams

Reid HopkinsHi. My name is Reid Hopkins, and I am the Executive Pastor at The Brook in Madison, Alabama.

I first came across Churchteams seven years ago when I was serving as an Associate Pastor at a church in South Carolina. At that time, I was overseeing our discipleship ministry and I wanted a simple way to effectively manage our small groups. After several months of research, Churchteams seemed to be the right solution. So, we signed up for their service, gave them a chance, and were very pleased with our experience. Not only did Churchteams help us with small group management, but we quickly recognized its potential and used it as our entire church management system! Since that time, I’ve never looked back.

I recently moved my family to Alabama so I could accept a new position as an Executive Pastor, and one of the first things that I did was evaluate our systems. After careful consideration, I decided that it was time to find a better church management system. And, as you have probably guessed since I am writing this blog, we are switching to Churchteams. There are many reasons why we believe this is the right solution for our church, but today I am only going to focus on two… training and customer service.

First, Churchteams provides great training opportunities through their regular webinars. No matter which church management system you use, training your key leaders can be a challenge. Not only do you have to schedule time with all of the right people (which can be a difficult task with everyone’s busy schedules), but you also have to keep in mind that some people in your church might not be the best with technology. Thankfully, Churchteams has a simple solution for this. Every month, Churchteams provides free training through webinars. Through these webinars, you will have the opportunity to share a screen with Boyd Pelley (one of the founders of Churchteams) and ask questions along the way. This personalized approach is a fantastic way to learn the system, and it is an efficient way to train your people.

Second, the customer service at Churchteams is outstanding. Have you ever needed help with your church management system and then learned that the company will only respond to you through email? And, sometimes it takes them 24-48 hours to respond! Even worse, when they finally respond, they usually tell you to watch a bunch of videos on their website to find the answer to your question. Let’s be honest, this is a frustrating experience! Technical support through email is fine when I only have a small issue or a simple question. But when I am in a jam, I don’t want to ask for help through email. I want to talk to a human being who can help me quickly solve my problem. Thankfully, Churchteams provides free phone support! Yes, they have the ability to help you through email, but if you need to talk to someone on the phone, they are ready to answer! In the world of church management systems, this is a rare treat!

I can tell you from experience that a good church management system makes a huge difference for a church! So, if you need a system that provides membership management, children’s ministry check-in, small group management, volunteer scheduling, online and text giving, event registration, an online directory, simple communication, and powerful reports, then look no further. Not only does Churchteams provide all of this (and so much more), but they provide great training through webinars and wonderful customer service!
