NEW! Advantages Of Being Agile.

Written by Boyd Pelley | 6/16/20 4:00 PM

One of our advantages in the church management market is our agile culture.  There is just one degree of separation between clients and our development team.  As soon as a need or even a suggestion is vetted by a support team member, it is shared with development.

Development keeps a running evaluation of these suggestions.  Some are as simple as a software edit and are immediately addressed.  They don't even make it to the list.  Others need affirmation, thought and evaluation.  As they come up again and are mulled over, they make their way to the investment of a few hours or days.  Others are much more involved and may take months or years to rise to the level of investment of weeks or even months of coding.  This set of releases fit into the first two categories.

  1. Custom attribute date ranges when using a report filter.
  2. NED faster load speed.
  3. Legal First Name is added to avoid duplicates from registration forms.
  4. Tired of Merge Report matching people who are not duplicates?
  5. Text-to-Church home page links to Registration Settings or Giving Designations.
  6. Title of Report changed to Name of Saved Report.

Custom attribute date ranges when using a report filter.

Many report types give you the option to filter based on custom member attribute dates like birthdate or date joined the church.  These date ranges now require both a start date and an end date.  The system used to work with a single date which was inconsistent with how other date range filters work in the system and it prevented the system from saving custom attribute date ranges in saved reports.

NED faster load speed.

NED (New EDitor) is our name for the default / advanced email editor.  We discovered and fixed a coding issue in saved templates that was slowing down the speed at which the editor was loading.

Legal First Name is added to avoid duplicates from registration forms.

The system uses an algorithm that matches people using the information they put on any form to keep them from being duplicated when they complete a registration.  This algorithm now includes a search of Legal First Name for organizations that have a member attribute by that name.

Tired of Merge Report matching people who are not duplicates?

Merge Reports (Members > Member > Merge) will occasionally bring up possible duplicates that due to sparse data, especially blank addresses, are not actually duplicates.   These can be annoying if every time you run the report you see the same false possible duplicates.  There is now a "Don't show again / not duplicates" option that you can check to dismiss these.

If you check this option, the background of the recommended merge will turn yellow and you will receive a note that this instance has been dismissed.  However, if you uncheck this option before going to another page, it will remove the dismissal.

Text-to-Church home page links to Registration Settings or Giving Designations.

You will find the Text-To-Church home page under Communicate > Text > Text-to-Church.  We added links from the Keywords for Registration and Giving Fund / Designation back to their respective pages.

Similarly, a link was added back to this page from Registration Settings and Giving Fund / Designations.

Title of Report changed to Name of Saved Report.

Another great idea from a client.  Instead of a generic title based on report type, we now use the name of a Saved Report as the report title.  Note: The report must be saved first (green button), then run from Saved Reports or the Me card if saved there.
